Matthias Hentschler

Matthias Hentschler (born April 17, 1973 in Berlin ) is a German film and TV producer and documentary filmmaker .

Life

After finishing school, Hentschler worked in the technical field of film and TV productions from 1992. His first own production was the documentary "TechnoSalsa", made in Cuba in 1998 , in which the emerging electronic music scene in Havana was portrayed. During this production, Hentschler came across Florian Borchmeyer in Havana , with whom he founded the production company raros media in Berlin in 1999 . Since then he has been doing commissioned productions with raros media for all major TV broadcasters in Germany, as well as international event documentaries - including portraits of all worldwide Love Parades from Berlin to Mexico and Tel Aviv. His productions focus on Latin America, especially Cuba. Hentschler's film Havanna - The New Art of Building Ruins from 2006 was awarded the Bavarian Film Prize.
