Heptacodon is an extinct genus of early even- toed ungulates (Artiodactyla) within the mammals (Mammalia), whichoccurred with four speciesfrom the Middle Eocene to the Lower Oligocene .

Heptacodon was almost the size of a hippopotamus. The head was large in relation to the body, the body was long and barrel-shaped. It was a herbivore , which you can see from the teeth .
Systematics
Heptacodon belonged to the group of Anthracotheriidae . Together with Anthracotherium , Heptacodon is the only member of the Anthracotheriinae . So far, four different types have been recognized:

- Heptacodon occidentale Osborn & Wortman, 1894
- Heptacodon pellionis Storer, 1983
- Heptacodon yeguaensis Holroyd, 2002
