Herakleon
Herakleon was a favorite of the Seleucid king Antiochus VIII and perhaps a high officer. He murdered in 98/97 BC The ruler and ruled independently for a few years.
Herakleon is said to come from Berrhoia (probably Aleppo ). Since he is said to have exercised the discipline of the soldiers, it can be presumed that he was a high officer. The background to his murder is not known. Perhaps he wanted to ascend the throne himself and he actually ruled northern Syria for some time. Since here from 88 BC BC a certain Straton ruled, this rule cannot have lasted long. It is uncertain whether Herakleon assumed the title of king. No coins of his own have come down to us.
