Herb Lorden

Herbert "Herb" Lorden Jr. (* around 1920) is a former American jazz musician ( woodwind ) and arranger of the late swing era .

Lorden played the clarinet and alto saxophone in Jan Garber's orchestra from the mid-1940s . In 1945 he was involved in Johnny Mercer's Capitol session with the Carl Kress Orchestra under the direction of Bobby Sherwood ( Any Place I Hang My Hat Is Home ). In the 1950s he worked as a musician and arranger for Harry James , to be heard on his Columbia and Capitol albums such as At the Hollywood Palladium (1954) and various TV and film scores . In 1957 he made a guest appearance with James in Vienna; In 1960 he appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show. Lorden also worked with Maxwell Davis , Ernie Andews and, in the 1960s, with the New Glenn Miller Otrchestra ( Ghost Band ) under the direction of Ray McKinley and Buddy DeFranco, respectively . In the field of jazz he was involved in 77 recording sessions between 1944 and 1966.
