Herbaria is a medium-sized company founded in 1919 with headquarters in Fischbachau ( Upper Bavaria ). The company specializes in the production and marketing of spices, teas, coffee and natural drugs in organic quality.

history

Herbaria Kräuterparadies GmbH was founded in 1919 in Philippsburg for the manufacture of medicinal products by mail order. In 1981 Herbaria supplied the first health food stores with herbs, teas and spices from organic farming. In 1983 the company moved to the Schliersee. Herbaria has been a founding member of the BNN ( Bundesverband Naturkost Naturwaren ) since 1987 .

In 1997 the company received the validation according to the EC Eco Audit Regulation ( EMAS ).

In 2000 the company moved to Fischbachau, to a former Baumkuchen factory.

Selected contract manufacturers have been taking over the tea and spice production since 2007, and Fischbachau has since become a pure sales location. In 2015 an apiary was also built on the factory premises and in 2018 a herb garden in the Herbaria neighborhood in cooperation with the DAV .

The company has been a member of the Bioland cultivation association since 2012, and in 2015 it was accepted into the group of value producers in the Tegernsee-Schliersee region. Managing Director Otto Greither was honored by WWF Germany and the business magazine Capital as eco-manager of the year 2003 (medium-sized companies) and received the Bavarian Order of Merit in 2008 .

Production and Organization

Most of the Herbaria products are made by the companies Salus Haus in Bruckmühl and Walther Schoenenberger in Magstadt . Herbaria owner Otto Greither is also the managing partner of these two EMAS-validated companies in the natural goods sector. A production building is located in Magstadt for the “organic gourmet spices” production line. The coffee is roasted and bottled by the Dinzler specialty roastery in Irschenberg, Upper Bavaria.

The environmental management system is structured according to the requirements of Regulation EC 1221/2009 (EMAS III).
