Fischbachau is a municipality in the Upper Bavarian district of Miesbach with the districts Fischbachau, Hundham, Niklasreuth and Wörnsmühl.

geography

Geographical location

The community lies in the extensive Leitzach valley on an alluvial cone on the eastern edge of the Leitzach valley and at the foot of the Breitenstein . The place is located 15 km southeast of Miesbach , 25 km southwest of Rosenheim , 32 km northwest of Kufstein , 17 km from the Autobahn 8 (exit Irschenberg or Bad Aibling ) and 60 km from the state capital Munich . The Fischbachau stop on the Schliersee – Bayrischzell railway is located in the Hammer district, 2.5 km from the town center. There are mainly regular bus connections from Hammer via Fischbachau and Wörnsmühl to Miesbach and back. The Wolfsee lies 900 meters south of the town center .

history

Until the church is planted

Fischbachau was first mentioned in the Freising Liber commutationum et traditionum around 1078/1080. A Countess Haziga of Diessen only a few years before in Bayrischzell based Benedictine monastery was moved to Fischbachau 1085, but moved already in 1104 again on the Petersberg near Dachau. From 1096 to 1100, today's parish church of St. Martin was built as a monastery church. It was the provost of Scheyern Abbey until secularization in 1803 and is the oldest Romanesque basilica in Upper Bavaria .

The political community Fischbachau was established in 1811.

Incorporations

On January 1, 1976, the previously independent communities Hundham and Wörnsmühl were incorporated. The southern parts of the dissolved municipality of Niklasreuth were added on May 1, 1978.

Population development

Between 1988 and 2018 the municipality grew from 4,818 to 5,675 by 857 inhabitants or 17.8%.
