history
Until the church is planted
Fischbachau was first mentioned in the Freising Liber commutationum et traditionum around 1078/1080. A Countess Haziga of Diessen only a few years before in Bayrischzell based Benedictine monastery was moved to Fischbachau 1085, but moved already in 1104 again on the Petersberg near Dachau. From 1096 to 1100, today's parish church of St. Martin was built as a monastery church. It was the provost of Scheyern Abbey until secularization in 1803 and is the oldest Romanesque basilica in Upper Bavaria .
The political community Fischbachau was established in 1811.
