Eduard Stemplinger

Eduard Stemplinger (born January 6, 1870 in Plattling , † February 25, 1964 in Elbach near Miesbach ) was a German high school teacher and writer .

Stemplinger studied Classical Philology , German Philology and History at the University of Munich . There he received his doctorate in 1893 and passed the 1st state examination. He then worked as a teacher in Neuburg an der Donau, Schäftlarn, Munich, Würzburg, Augsburg and again in Munich. From 1921 until his retirement in 1934 he was head of the humanistic grammar school in Rosenheim .

Stemplinger has written or edited over 60 books. He followed many traces of antiquity in his Bavarian homeland and copied Ovid and Horace in the Bavarian dialect . Stemplinger lived in Elbach from 1941 .

In 1955 he received the Cross of Merit (Steckkreuz) of the Federal Republic of Germany and on December 15, 1959, he was awarded the Bavarian Order of Merit . In 1961 he received the Bavarian Poet Thaler .
