history
Until the church is planted
In 804 Oberwarngau was first mentioned in a document. In the 8th century, Warngau was the capital of a rulership that was owned by the two founders of the Tegernsee monastery , Oatkar and Adalbert, and who had given them to the monastery. When the lands of the monastery were deserted in the 10th century, the goods came to noble knights, one of whom came into the possession of Warngau. Warngau did not regain ownership of the monastery until 1009, where it then remained for a long time. The monastery built its own court house in Warngau and held court in an open Schranne until the monastery was finally placed under the protection of the Dukes of Bavaria.
In the course of the administrative reforms in the Kingdom of Bavaria in 1818, Warngau became an independent political municipality.
Incorporations
On May 1, 1978, in the course of the municipal area reform, the previously independent municipality of Wall and part of the dissolved municipality of Gotzing were incorporated into Warngau .
