The Leitzach near Esterndorf.

The Leitzach Valley is a valley in southern Upper Bavaria and takes its name from the Leitzach River , a tributary of the Mangfall .

The Leitzach valley leads over the terminal moraine sill from Elbach into the open valley of Fischbachau , which was filled by the Leitzach glacier in the last ice age. The Leitzach Valley, which is narrow in the north, widens south from Hundham to Fischbachau and at Hammer (district of Fischbachau) again forms a narrow transition to the Bayrischzeller Leitzachtal Basin.

The valley is characterized by alpine farming with hamlets and individual farms, some of which have been passed on to the family for centuries.
