Herbert Platzer

Herbert Platzer (born August 12, 1943 in Lilienfeld ) is a former Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and principal school director. From 1991 to 1995 he was a member of the state parliament of Lower Austria and from 1995 to 1998 a member of the Federal Council .

Platzer attended elementary school in Rohrbach an der Gölsen between 1949 and 1953 and then moved to Hainfeld secondary school until 1957 . He then graduated from the Federal Teachers' Training College in St. Pölten from 1957 to 1963 and did military service between 1963 and 1964. Platzer worked as a primary school teacher from 1964, became a secondary school teacher in 1969 and took over the role of principal school director in 1978.

From 1972, Platzer became a local councilor in Hainfeld. Between 1975 and 1981 he held the office of vice mayor and was the mayor of the city of Hainfeld between 1981 and 1991. He then represented the SPÖ from October 17, 1991 to June 29, 1995 in the Lower Austrian state parliament, before moving to the Federal Council from June 29, 1995 to April 15, 1998.
