Herchener Hof

The Herchener Hof is located in Herchen on the north bank of the Sieg and is now operated as a social and elderly center. The former hotel building from greywacke with a mansard - hipped provided and is a listed building.

Hotel operations

As early as 1911, the then property owner and quarry owner Hugo Röstel from Herchen applied for a concession for a restaurant and bar. Then this was requested again by Winand Ferbach from Herchen. It was not until 1912/13 that the current building was erected by the Cologne businessman Wilhelm Hahn and the Cologne architect K. Schauppmeyer. The license was granted to Röstel in 1914, who was only the administrator for Hahn. The latter closed the hotel in 1916 and sold the building on August 22, 1918 to Ms. Helene Tillier, who also ran the Roseneck house. In 1919 she advertised the Hotel Herchener Hof with Landhaus Roseneck as a modern recreation center in the most beautiful location of the Siegtal . As early as 1921, Hugo Becker from Hüls applied for the license to be transferred.

Children's home of the city of Neuss

The building was later operated as a children's home for the city of Neuss . At that time it was called the Sunshine House . In 1986/87 the children's home was given up. After that, the facility was added to the list of monuments of the municipality of Windeck as a monument .

Todays use

In addition to the use of the main building as a retirement and nursing home, the associated remise is being expanded by the citizens' and beautification association as a local meeting place. The park belonging to the property is used as the Herchener Kurpark.
