Heribert Bauer (* in Pforzheim ; †) was a German inventor. Bauer is considered to be the inventor of the push button in modern times.

Life

Bauer grew up in Pforzheim. In 1885 Bauer received the world's first patent certificate for a push button , which was issued to Heribert Bauer on March 5, 1885 by the Imperial Patent Office in Berlin . Bauer received further patents, none of which were commercially exploited and therefore did not lead to any series production. Years later, in Stolberg in 1903, the German entrepreneur Hans Prym took up Bauer's idea and improved Bauer's invention and went into series production.
