The Hermann Oberth Space Museum is a museum for space technology in the Franconian market of Feucht . The exact address of the museum is Pfinzingstraße 12-14.
Historical
The museum was founded in 1971 by the Hermann Oberth Society. The Feucht market has provided the outbuilding of the Pfinzingschloss with an exhibition area of around 160 m² since 1989 . It shows the technology of rockets, spaceships and space stations as well as ideas, constructions, models and originals for the journey into space. It is reminiscent of the life's work of the famous rocket pioneer Hermann Oberth .
Exhibits
- Oberth's cone nozzle to the modern rocket engines .
- Oberth's UFA rocket to the space shuttle .
- Oberth's space diving suit to modern space suits .
- Oberth's observer chamber for the international space station .
The museum has other noteworthy exhibits:
- A missile of the Cumulus type
- A rocket of the type Cirrus , which at the beginning of the 1960s by the " Hermann-Oberth-Gesellschaft e. V. "have been developed and on the tidal flats of Cuxhaven were started
- An on-board suit of the German D1 astronaut Ernst Messerschmid
as well as a model of the Sputnik 1 , the third stage of the Europa 1 launcher and other various rocket engines.
- A Swiss Zenit sounding rocket is on display in front of the museum .
Others
The museum also has a space cinema with a selection of films on the subject of space travel. The Hermann Oberth Space Museum has been a member of the International Astronautical Federation (IAF), the world space organization , since 2014 .
