Hermann Lechner (politician)

Hermann Lechner (born November 29, 1924 in Wieselburg ; † June 12, 2012 in Gaming ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and primary school teacher. From 1969 to 1987 he was a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament .

Life

After elementary and secondary school, Hermann Lechner attended the St. Pölten teacher training college and did military service from 1942. He was taken prisoner of war from which he returned in 1946. Lechner entered the school service in 1946 and was elected to the municipal council of Gaming in 1955 . Between 1960 and 1994 he held the office of mayor and from 1971 acted as SPÖ district party chairman. In the state parliament he represented the SPÖ between November 20, 1969 and November 30, 1987, where he was club chairman of the SPÖ state parliament club between 1980 and 1987.

On the occasion of his 80th birthday he was made an honorary citizen in Gaming.
