Hermann Mattes

Hermann Mattes (* 1949 ) is a German biologist and was Professor of Animal Ecology at the University of Münster until 2015 .

Life

Hermann Mattes studied biology and chemistry at the University of Hohenheim from 1968 and worked there at the location research department in Ravensburg-Bavendorf . In 1978 the doctorate to Dr. rer. nat. with Friedrich-Karl Holtmeier at the University of Münster . He then worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Ecology at the TU Berlin and from 1982 as a university assistant at the Institute for Geography at the University of Münster. In 1988 he completed his habilitation and received the Venia legendi for biogeography and landscape ecology. From 1988 he worked for a year as a research assistant at the ornithological station in Sempach , Switzerland, and from 1989 to 2015 he was Professor (C3) at the Institute for Landscape Ecology in the Geosciences Department of the University of Münster.

Act

Mattes mainly works on the ecology of bird communities and communities in forests. He examines the dispersal ecology and analyzes the changes in the area of ​​animals and works on biocenotic connections.
