Hermann Moritz Cossmann

Hermann Moritz Cossmann , also Hermann Maurice Cossmann (* 1821 in Berlin , † 1890 in Paris ) was a German painter and etcher .

Life

Cossmann was a student in Berlin in 1842 in the private studio of Johann Samuel Otto and at the Royal Prussian Academy of the Arts. In 1842, 1846, 1848 and 1852 he took part in the Berlin Academy Exhibition, and from 1845 at the latest he lived in Paris. There he took lessons from Eugène Lepoittevin and between 1845 and 1885 participated regularly in the Paris Salon .

He was the father of the paleontologist Maurice Cossmann .
