Hermann Reissner

Hermann Reissner (* 16th November 1909 in Stuttgart , † 26. October 1996 ) was a German engineer of aerospace engineering , contractor and installer of him named Hermann-Reissner Foundation at the University of Stuttgart .

Life

In Stuttgart, born and raised studied Hermann Reissner at the Technical University of Stuttgart and the Technical University of Berlin Engineering . At the beginning of his studies in Stuttgart he joined the Corps Stauffia . He received his degree in engineering in 1932 in Berlin.

A passionate aviator, he went to the Junkers aircraft and engine works in Dessau as an aircraft construction engineer in 1932 in order to be able to combine his profession with his passion. During the war years from 1939 to 1945, he flew valuable spare parts on behalf of Junkers to theaters of war in France, Italy, Norway, Poland, Russia and North Africa.

After the end of the war, in contrast to many senior executives at the Junkers works, he managed to evade deportation and return to his home in Württemberg. In 1946 he took over a small steel business, which he expanded over time into a major steel trading company in southern Germany. In 1980 he sold his company and turned to promoting science and research. In 1986 he established the non-profit Hermann Reissner Foundation . In cooperation with the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering and Geodesy at the University of Stuttgart, it promotes science and research as well as scientific teaching and education in aerospace engineering.
