Hermann Vischer the Elder

Hermann Vischer the Elder († January 1488 in Nuremberg ) was a German sculptor. He came from the artist family Vischer .

With the establishment of a foundry in 1453, Herrmann Vischer, as a citizen of Nuremberg, laid the foundation for an artistic creation that was continued in the family for three generations and produced important works of art.

In 1471 he poured the grave slab of the Bamberg prince-bishop Georg I von Schaumberg and in 1471 that of the Würzburg bishop Sigismund von Sachsen .

He was buried on January 13, 1488.

Vischer had a total of six children from two marriages, including Peter Vischer the elder .
