Vischer (family)
The Vischer family was a family of artists from Nuremberg who became known for their casting work.
Hermann Vischer the Elder founded a foundry in 1453 as a citizen of Nuremberg. The artist family Vischer includes the son Peter Vischer the Elder with his sons Hermann , Hans and Peter . The family worked for three generations until the middle of the 16th century.
They made numerous metal tombs for well-known personalities, including the prince-bishops of Bamberg and Würzburg and local canons . Other clients were the Counts of Henneberg . Works for the Schaumberg are u. a. in Lichtenfels . The depicted relatives and church dignitaries include family members of the Seckendorff , Giech , Förtsch von Thurnau , Redwitz , Bibra and Guttenberg families . In Krakow , tombs were created in the Wawel Cathedral and St. Mary's Church .
