Manfred Kullmann

Manfred Kullmann (born November 13, 1938 ) is a German jazz pianist .

As the son of a middle-class family, Kullmann received classical piano lessons in his childhood and youth. He earned his music studies - piano and clarinet - as an organist in Fulda . For many years he was a pianist in the dance orchestra of the Hessischer Rundfunk and the resulting hr big band . With his trio (which recorded an album with Conny Jackel ) he was an active part of the Frankfurt jazz scene before giving up his career at the age of 60 to sail. He has been living in Berlin and Mallorca for several years , where he is again leading a trio with which he presented an album in 2004. He translates classical music into the language of jazz and flamenco . He can also be heard on recordings with the Frankfurt Radio Big Band, Otto's Jazz Company and Wilson de Oliveira .
