Peter Vischer the Younger

Peter Vischer the Younger (* 1487 in Nuremberg ; † 1528 there ) was a German sculptor and medalist . He came from the artist family Vischer .

Peter Vischer the Younger was the son of Peter Vischer the Elder , whose father was Hermann Vischer the Elder . His brothers were Hans and Hermann . He is known to have four plaques depicting Orpheus and Eurydice. Karl Woermann writes about it in his History of Art Volume III 1911: “Three of them, belonging to the Berlin Museum, the Hamburger Kunsthalle and the St. Paul Abbey in Carinthia, show Eurydice still about to follow her husband who stayed behind, the fourth, in the Dreyfus Collection in Paris, she is already reproducing a movement that is preparing her return to Hades. "
