The Heron Group (spelling without a hyphen) is an Austrian industrial and technology company founded in 1988 with headquarters in Dornbirn . The parent company Heron Sondermaschinen und Steuerungen GmbH now serves as a service provider in the areas of finance, personnel and product development for its three operational subsidiaries. Foreign branches are located in the USA ( Dayton ), Italy ( Auronzo di Cadore ) and Australia ( Melbourne ). The company's core business is Robotunits , which develops and produces components for automated production. The subsidiary Servus Intralogistics produces the first transport robot that moves intelligently and autonomously decides on the fastest route.

Company history

In 1988 Christian Beer founded Heron Sondermaschinenbau GmbH , whose core competence was the development and construction of assembly machines . In 1994 Robotunits GmbH was founded and the Robotunits modular automation system was launched. In 1997, Heron was the first company in Vorarlberg to have its own childcare facility. In 1999 Heron CNC Technik GmbH was founded. In the 2000s, the group followed a strong expansion course. In 2001 Robotunits Inc. was founded in the USA, three years later another Robotunits subsidiary in Australia and in 2005 in Italy. After eight years of development, the Servus transport robot system was presented in 2005 and Servus Robotics GmbH was founded . In 2008, the new ten million euro company headquarters Heron Ideas Factory in Dornbirn was completed and Vecon GmbH was founded. In 2011, Servus Intralogistics GmbH was founded . In 2016, the operating location in Dornbirn was expanded by 3,640 m² to a total area of ​​around 7,800 m² for eight million euros.

Awards

Servus Robotics was awarded several prizes such as B. the Vorarlberger Innovationspreis or the MM-Award Automatica of the trade journal MaschinenMarkt in the category assembly.
