Heron Quays is a Docklands Light Railway (DLR) station in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets . It is in the Travelcard tariff zone 2 and opens up the southern part of the extensive Canary Wharf business district . The station is elevated and is located in the middle of a high-rise office building. An underground shopping center can also be reached from here. About a two-minute walk away (through the mall or across the street) is Canary Wharf Underground Station on the Jubilee Line .

When the basic network began operating on August 31, 1987, the station consisted of two short side platforms and was partially located directly above the former South Dock basin. Once near the neighboring station on 9 February 1996 South Quay , a car bomb the IRA had exploded, the entire route had south of Heron Quays be blocked. A few weeks later, on April 16, operations could be resumed.

The station soon proved to be too small and had to be expanded. It was closed on September 30, 2001, rebuilt around 200 meters further north at the current location and reopened on December 18, 2002.
