The mansion

The Altenberga manor is centrally located in the Altenberga community in the Saale-Holzland district in Thuringia .

history

During the Thuringian Count War , the Erfurters conquered the castle. Afterwards the Saxon Fratricidal War raged in 1446 and 1451 . The Altenberga castle complex was destroyed. These events also brought about economic changes. The supply of the castle complex was omitted, so that the landed gentry could and had to become more effective. In the middle of the 15th century, the Altenberga Castle was built. This building was the predecessor of today's manor house . In 1675 the building was rebuilt and extended. As a result of the better land management, the stable and barn buildings could be expanded or rebuilt.

In 1763, the castle was the site of a large Masonic convention , which was convened at the instigation of Georg Friedrich von Johnssen , which was exposed shortly afterwards as an impostor.

With the land reform , the property in Altenberga was dissolved and the land and buildings were farmed by GDR farms. The mansion has been neglected lately and has been empty since 2012.
