Ruin of the Charlottenhof mansion

The ruins of the Charlottenhof manor house (in Polish : Pałac w Sosnach ) are located in Sosny (Witnica) in the Lubusz Voivodeship in Poland. It is located 20 kilometers west of Kostrzyn ( Küstrin ). The name comes from the 18th century, before the estate was called Gut Diedersdorf. The mansion is considered to be one of the three highest quality mansions in the historic Neumark .

history

In 1337 "Diterstorp" was named as a German settlement. In the middle of the 17th century Joachim von der Marwitz auf Stennewitz owned the place. In 1764 the Diedersdorfer landlord Hans Woteslaw von Wobeser married Catherine Charlotte von der Borne and in 1771 put on a new farm on the site of the present manor house. From 1778 Charlotte took the Vorwerk as a residence. In her will, she stipulated that the estate should be inherited by the youngest daughter of the previous owner.

In 1816 the manor Diedersdorf, together with the Vorwerk Charlottenhof, the Neudiedersdorf colony and other colonies in the Warthebruch , were sold to Leberecht and Caroline von Klitzing. Today's manor house was built from 1834. From 1870 Georg von Klitzing was a landlord. Georg Gorg von Klitzing was a founding member of the Association for the History of the Neumark and brought about the establishment of a local court in Wietz. From 1900 Georg von Klitzing handed over the management of the estate to his son, but remained responsible for forestry. Therefore, a second manor house, called "Haus Diedersorf", was built near the manor house.

Building

The manor house, built between 1834 and 1835, was constructed as a simple rectangular building with a gable roof and simple risalits . The dominant arched niche in the entrance facade is in axis with the chestnut avenue leading to the manor house. At the north-west corner, the manor house is extended by a neoclassical tower built in 1886.
