Kavlås manor house

The mansion Kavlås lies in the Swedish municipality of Tidaholm about ten kilometers northwest of the city Tidaholm . The manor is privately owned.

The history of Kavlås (also Kaflås ), which is one of the largest estates in Skaraborg , can be traced back to the 14th century. In 1723 the estate passed into the possession of the baronial von Essen family, who from 1750 had today's manor house built in rococo style . Hans Henrik von Essen was born here in 1755 . Parts of the furnishings from the 18th century are still preserved. In the manor house, which has been protected as Byggnadsminne since 1978 , there is also a valuable collection of royal and family portraits.
