Matzdorf mansion

The manor house Matzdorf ( Polish Straszny Dwór w Maciejowcu ) is a manor house in Maciejowiec in the rural municipality of Lubomierz ( Liebenthal ) in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship in Poland.

history

Since the end of the 15th century, the place was owned by von Spiller. After a fire in 1533, the building was expanded into a small three-wing complex. In 1630 and 1648 the building was rebuilt. From 1669 Johann Sigismund von Reder, from 1687 Balthasar von Hayn, was the owner. After 1727 the mansion was owned by von Zierotin and Lilgenau. In 1757 it was bought by the Schmiedeberger veil dealer George Friedrich Smith. After several other changes of ownership, Johann Dolan acquired the estate in 1829 and had Matzdorf Castle built. The manor house became servants' quarters.

After the Polish takeover of the region, the building complex was initially inhabited by forest workers, but fell into ruin in the 1970s. After 2008 the mansion was restored in accordance with the listed building standards.

Building

The castle reflects the appearance of the 16th century almost unchanged. The three-wing complex has an inner courtyard, which is accompanied by an arbor vaulted on Renaissance pillars.
