Boetzelaer Castle

The glory of Appeldorn , based at Boetzelaer Castle in Appeldorn , today a district of Kalkar in the Kleve district ( North Rhine-Westphalia ), belonged to Messrs. Van den Boetzelaer , which was first handed down in 1256. The glory of Appeldorn was the family's allodial property .

After armed conflicts with the Duchy of Kleve , the glory of Appeldorn became a Klevian fief after 1395/96 .
