Henning Ernst von Behr

Henning Ernst von Behr (born April 8, 1706 in Schlagtow ; † August 28, 1783 ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

Henning Ernst was a member of the von Behr family of the Pomerania-Gützkow tribe . His parents were the heir to Schlagtow and Klein Niekör Joachim Ernst von Behr and Margarethe Eleonore von Koppelow . He remained unmarried.

Behr is said to have joined the army as early as 1722 , but did not begin his career as an officer until 1732 as an ensign in the von Kalckstein infantry regiment , advanced to second lieutenant in 1735 and became a staff captain in the von Münchow fusilier regiment in 1740 . In 1741 the king was one of the first to send him to the Giant Mountains to advertise . In 1744 he became captain and company commander . He took part in the Second Silesian War . He then became head of a grenadier company in 1753. He took part in the Seven Years' War , in particular the battles near Leuthen and Prague as well as the battle near Pretschen . In the war years he rose to major and commander of a grenadier battalion in 1757 and was promoted to lieutenant colonel in 1761 . On September 27, 1762, he also distinguished himself in the battles near Freiberg . In 1763 he was promoted to commander of the grenadier battalion “von Unruh” and in the same year to commander of the fusilier regiment “von Hülsen” . Most recently, Behr was promoted to colonel in 1764 and dimitted in 1765 with the character of major general.
