Schlagtow and Schlagtow-Meierei are districts of the municipality of Groß Kiesow in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district .

geography

Schlagtow is two kilometers east of Groß Kiesow, north of the Anklam – Greifswald railway on the K 12 Groß Kiesow - Züssow district road . The independent district of Schlagtow-Meierei is located northwest of the main town Schlagtow.

history

West of Schlagtow, a settlement site of the Germanic peoples from the pre-Roman Iron Age (600 BCE to 0) was discovered archaeologically . The settlement area was cut in 1934 during road construction. A potty, several shards and a spindle whorl decorated with four arches were recovered. Wilhelm Petzsch defined the find as late Roman time of Ostgermanen- Rugier .

Archaeological Late Slavic (1000–1200) settlements have also been identified on the northern and southern edges of the town.

Schlagtow is, among other goods, an original property of the von Behr family , it was mentioned as early as 1275 in the general loan letter of the Pomeranian dukes for the Behrs. Lippold von Behr, who is considered one of the ancestors of the Behrs, was particularly well known at the time. He was, among other things, castellan / Vogt of the Gützkow counts .

Schlagtow was first mentioned in documents as Schlagetowe in 1320 . The name is apparently to be interpreted as the personal name of the Slawo village .

The Schlagtow dairy was laid out before 1835 (PUM = Prussian Urmeßtischblatt ), but only as a courtyard with no living space, which is why it was first named in 1957 as the "Schlagtow dairy".

In 1865 Schlagtow had 121 inhabitants, 6 residential buildings and 15 farm buildings.

Schlagtow was incorporated into Groß Kiesow on July 1, 1950.

On December 31, 2014, Schlagtow had 120 residents with a main residence and 12 with a secondary residence.

On December 31, 2014, Schlagtow-Meierei had 25 residents with a main residence and 2 with a secondary residence.
