In the summer of 1868 the English Queen Victoria visited Hertenstein.
After his deposition as emperor, Emperor Karl I of Austria lived in the castle hotel in Hertenstein before he left it to regain power and flew to Sopron via Dübendorf .
In 1930 Sergei Rachmaninov had the "Villa Senar" (acronym from his and his wife's names) built on the lake as a second home, which he no longer lived in after the outbreak of war in 1939.
The Hertenstein program was adopted in Hertenstein on September 21, 1946 .
