The honorary title of Outstanding Cooperative Member was a state award of the German Democratic Republic (GDR), which was awarded in the form of a medal. It was donated on February 18, 1954. It was bestowed on members of the agricultural and horticultural production cooperatives , but also on production cooperatives of inland , sea ​​and coastal fishing , if the loan beneficiaries were involved in the development of their cooperative and in building socialism in agriculture had an excellent share. The maximum number of awards increased from year to year, so the honorary title could be awarded:

  • 1958: 100 times a year
  • from 1958: 200 times a year
  • from 1978: 250 times a year.

Awards for entire collectives were usually hung on the wall in the cooperative's canteen or in the ballroom in the form of a certificate and / or medal.

Appearance

The bronze medal with a diameter of 33 mm shows a radiant rising sun on its obverse , in front of it an ear of wheat growing out of the ground. Under the ear of wheat there is a semicircular laurel wreath that is open to the top and ends with the inscription: OUTSTANDING COOPERATIVE . The reverse of the medal shows the GDR's national coat of arms .

Carrying method

The medal was worn on the upper left chest on a 34 × 11 mm green ribbon. A black, red and gold central stripe is woven into it.
