Duke of Terceira

Duke of Terceira (Duque da Terceira) is a Portuguese hereditary title of nobility since 1832 . It was given to António José de Sousa Manoel de Menezes Severim de Noronha and his descendants on November 8, 1832 by Queen Maria II .

António de Noronha, the first Duke, was a descendant of the military leader Sancho Manoel de Vilhena, 1st Count of Vila Flor (1610–1677), Marshal of the Portuguese Army in the Restoration War .

The title later passed to Maria Luísa da Conceição de Almeida Manuel de Vilhena, 10th Countess of Vila Flor (1926-1998) and then to Lourenço da Bandeira Manuel de Vilhena de Freitas (* 1973).
