Hesperides (mythological place)
The gardens of the Hesperides were a mythical place or a mythical island or group of islands in the far west of the known world, intended as the residence of the Hesperides .
In the Naturalis historia of Pliny the Elder , who refers to Statius Sebosus for the distance information , the Hesperides lie in the Atlantic behind the Canary Islands , similar to Solinus . Attempts to identify the island of the Hesperides with islands known today are often made.
