Hesseng is about five kilometers south of Kirkenes . The place is connected to the Norwegian road network via the European route 6 and European route 105 . The E 105 continues from Hesseng to the Russian border.

Lake Sandnesvatnet is located south of Hesseng. The Tredjevannet lies northeast of Hesseng.
