Codex Manesse, Mr. Hesso von Reinach

Hesso von Reinach or Hesso von Rinach , occasionally also Hess von Reinach , (*  1234 probably in Unter-Rinach Castle , near Burg AG ; † between 1276 and 1282) was an aristocrat from Aargau and minstrel .

He came from an Aargau ministerial family who served the Habsburgs.

Little is known about his life. In the Codex Manesse , which narrates two of his Minnelieder, he is portrayed as a distinguished nobleman who lets cripples and beggars into his house. From 1265 to 1276 he was in office at Schönenwerd Abbey as a provost .
