Heteromorphism

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Heteromorphy (from the Greek heteros "the other; one of the two; of a different kind" and μορφή, morphé = shape, form) generally denotes the diversity of a thing in terms of shape and appearance.

In chemistry , this is understood to mean the phenomenon that in the case of mixed crystals made from some salts, the excess of one that is present on the other forces its crystal system onto the other .

In biology , one speaks of heteromorphic species if they have different growth forms regardless of genetic factors. In the heteromorphic generation change, gender and asexual generations differ in appearance.
