A hate pillow , also known as a bite pillow , is a pillow made of jute , cotton or a cotton-synthetic fiber mixture that is filled with wadding and is usually provided with handles. It is used to train guard dogs . The helper offers the dog as prey , which he hunts and then holds with a firm bite. It is mainly used with young dogs or dogs at the beginning of their training and is an aid to design the transition from prey play with rags or similar objects via the young dog 's arm to the protective arm (also called hunt arm) of the protection worker.
