High Noon (Do Not Forsake Me) , also known as The Ballad of High Noon or after the introductory text line as Do Not Forsake Me, Oh My Darlin ' ( English for Do not let me down, my favorite ) is the title song of Westerns Twelve noon (high noon) that was published in the 1952nd The music is by Dimitri Tiomkin and the lyrics by Ned Washington . The song was sung by Tex Ritter . Other well-known versions are from Frankie Laine and Bill Hayes . The first version released before the film was made by Lita Roza .

The song won the Oscar for Best Song in 1953. The song reached number 25 on AFI's 100 Years ... 100 Songs , a list of the top 100 songs in American cinema.

Also published in 1953 Bruce Low with Say why you want to go with me? a German version of the title. A French version has been published under the title Si Toi Aussi Tu m'abandonnés .

The song has been covered by many other musicians, including Johnny Bond , Walter Brennan , Roy Clark , Connie Francis and Nana Mouskouri .
