AFI's 100 Years… 100 songs

AFI's 100 Years… 100 Songs is a list of 100 top songs in the US film industry, selected from 400 nominations by the American Film Institute (AFI). The list was presented on June 22, 2004 as part of a television show on CBS by John Travolta , who himself appeared twice with the films Saturday Night Fever and Grease .

The films Singin 'In The Rain , Meine Lieder - mein Träume and West Side Story received the most mentions with three entries each, followed by The Wizard of Oz , A Star Is Born (11th with the version from 1954 and 16th with the 1976 version ), Funny Girl, and Meet Me in St. Louis with two entries each.

Performers

The songs by Judy Garland  - which is # 1 with the title Over the Rainbow - and Gene Kelly had the most frequent mentions with five entries each, followed by Julie Andrews , Fred Astaire , Marni Nixon and Barbra Streisand with four entries each. The songs by Fred Astaire and Barbra Streisand were chosen within the first fifty entries of the list, with Astaire singing three songs with other performers, while Streisand had performed all of their songs alone.
