Footloose is a song by Kenny Loggins from the soundtrack of the 1984 film Footloose . The song stayed at number 1 on the Billboard charts for three weeks . The song was the fourth best song in 1984. The music video shows several scenes from the film, especially footage from the camp in which Kevin Bacon's character performs a dance number .

The song was in 1985 for the Oscar in the category Best Song nomination, but lost to Stevie Wonder I Just Called to Say I Love You . On July 13, 1985, Kenny sang Loggins Footloose at the Live Aid concert in Philadelphia .

The song can be heard in the episode Full of Secrets from the TV series South Park , in the episode Four Little Words by American Dad and in the episode When Testing Nothing New from The Simpsons . It has been covered by Weird Al Yankovic , Jive Bunny & the Mastermixers and Party Animals , among others .
