history

Stayin 'Alive was written by the Gibb brothers and recorded in 1977 at the Château d'Hérouville , Hérouville-en-Vexin , France with producers Albhy Galuten and Karl Richardson . Since the drummer of the group, Dennis Byron , was not available due to the death of his father, two bars of the already recorded song Night Fever were recorded in a row on a tape ("looped") and used for Stayin 'Alive . The drummer was "Bernard Lupé" (a "French" allusion to the session drummer Bernard Purdie ). Bernard Lupé's exceptional ability to keep up the pace made it a sought-after drummer until it became known that he didn't exist.

Use for medical training

With 103 BPM, “Stayin 'Alive” corresponds to the recommended clock frequency for chest compressions and is well suited as a memory aid because of its popularity and the appropriate title. In 2011 the American Heart Association released an action video in which doctor Ken Jeong appears in the costume of John Travolta .
