By an unfortunate coincidence, the three violent criminals Jessie Lee Kane, Chino and Ling escape from a prisoner transport. They leave a bloody trail through Portland . Martyrdom now begins for the family who believes in God. In particular, Kane, the leader of the group, tortures and mocks the family in a strongly racist manner. When Karen, a friend of the family, and Joey (Tommy in the German version), playmate of Turner's youngest son Ted, learn of the kidnapping, Ling kills them both. The three now decide to make their getaway car disappear. They manage to outsmart the police. When Kane stays alone with the family, the tide briefly turns. However, when Kane regains the upper hand, the brutal game continues. When the three are reunited, they one by one rape Corrie Turner. The police are now surrounding the house. But the tide is turning inside. The family succeeds in eliminating two of their tormentors. However, Kane manages to get out of the house with Mrs. Turner hostage. Surrounded by the police, there is a showdown with Ted Turner, who can finally shoot the man.

Reviews
The film was heavily criticized in particular because of its explicit depiction of violence and its racist language.
“At first you think he's a normal cracker, but then the taboos crumble under the force of a constant bombardment by the most malicious, mean and humiliating racist comments that have been banned on celluloid to date. [...] But I Hate Your Guts is not the only place where I Hate Your Guts makes a mistake. So it is shown to the last rattle how a little boy dies. "
“Three escaped convicts tyrannize and torture a family, although they do not shy away from brutal murders, including those of children. A classic action pattern of the gangster film is not analyzed here as an exceptional psychological situation, but misused as a reason for the representation of sadisms. "
