Hilde Lohbauer (born November 8, 1918 in Plauen , † after 1950) was a German prisoner function in Auschwitz-Birkenau and Bergen-Belsen .

Life

Lohbauer, a factory worker, was sent to the Ravensbrück concentration camp in 1940 because she refused to move from her workplace, a weaving mill in Württemberg , to an ammunition factory . From there she was transferred to Auschwitz concentration camp in March 1942 , where she was initially a prisoner in the main camp for four weeks and then in Auschwitz-Birkenau. Around Christmas 1942 she was Kapo for four weeks , but lost this post again. By early 1944 at the latest, Lohbauer was working in Birkenau as a labor service leader. Her tasks included monitoring the external commandos, checking the work performed and maintaining order and cleanliness in Birkenau. You were under 25 to 30 kapos. She was known in Auschwitz as an SS woman without a uniform.

After the evacuation of the Auschwitz concentration camp in January 1945, she was returned to the Ravensbrück concentration camp on an evacuation transport and from there on a transport with the Kapo Ilse Lothe in March 1945 to the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp . There she again belonged to the labor service and supervised work details.

After the end of the war, Lohbauer was indicted in the first Bergen-Belsen trial (number 11) of the crimes committed in Auschwitz and Bergen-Belsen. During her interrogation, although she admitted some abuse of prisoners, she refused to acknowledge her guilt. Lohbauer was sentenced to ten years' imprisonment on November 17, 1945, but was released from prison on July 15, 1950. Her fate after her release is unknown.
