Hildegard von Bingen pilgrimage route

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Hildegard-von-Bingen-Pilgerwanderweg is a 137 km long hiking trail in the near region of Rhineland-Palatinate . It leads in ten stages, between 4.7 and 20 km long, from Idar-Oberstein to Bingen am Rhein . Stations touch on the possible birthplace of Hildegard von Bingen , the ruins of the Disibodenberg monastery , where she lived for forty years, and today's pilgrimage church in Rüdesheim - Eibingen with the Hildegard shrine .

Along the way, informative or meditative panels report on the life and work of Hildegard von Bingen as well as on life in the Middle Ages . A pilgrim book provides information about boards and backgrounds of the path.
