Hildegard Mathies

Hildegard Mathies (* 1969 ) is a German journalist and was chairwoman of the Society of Catholic Publicists in Germany (GKP) from 2009 to 2012 ; she is currently the GKP representative on the Central Committee of German Catholics (ZdK).

Life

Mathies studied German and American studies in Bochum. Her first journalistic experiences include working on a local parish letter . Later she took part in a regional project of the RuhrWort and learned there from Christian Frevel. She also worked as a freelance journalist for the insert editorial team of the WAZ group and for foto-present . In 1996 she volunteered at the Hildesheimer KirchenZeitung , where she became an editor in 1998. In 2003 she became deputy editor-in-chief. From 2006 to 2012 she was editor-in-chief of the catholic magazine continents . Mathies has been a member of the Society of Catholic Publicists in Germany since 1993, a member of the board of directors since 2003, and was chairman from 2009 to 2012.

For professional, family and personal reasons, she announced her resignation as GKP Chair on December 31, 2012.
