Society of Catholic Publicists in Germany

The Society of Catholic Publicists in Germany e. V. (GKP) is an association founded in 1948 as a free association of Catholic publicists .

In 2019, it comprised around 550 publicists and journalists . The seat of the GKP is in the Thomas-More-Akademie in Bensberg ( Bergisch Gladbach ). Chairwoman since March 16, 2013 was Michaela Pilters , head of the Church and Life / Cath. at ZDF in Mainz. Her successor was Joachim Frank , chief correspondent of the DuMont media group , in March 2015 . Until March 2015, the deputy chairmen were Carolin Kronenburg , press spokeswoman for the episcopal campaign " Adveniat " in Essen , and Bernhard Rude , head of studies at the Institute for the Promotion of Young Journalists (ifp) in Munich.

The GKP is a member of the Catholic World Association for Communication SIGNIS .

Award

Since 1984 the board of the GKP has awarded the Franz-von-Sales-Tafel to personalities who have achieved special services as Catholic publicists. It was donated as a reminder of the Franco-German journalists' meeting in 1983 that took place in Annecy, where Franz von Sales , the patron saint of journalists and writers, is buried. Have been awarded so far

  • the Limburg auxiliary bishop Walther Kampe (1909 to 1998) as a clerical adviser to the GKP and as "media bishop ",
  • Karl Bringmann as a founding member and longstanding member of the board (1951 to 1969),
  • Konrad Simons for his commitment as GKP chairman and for his commitment to the Franco-German journalists' meetings,
