Hill Climb Racing is a two-dimensional racing game from the Finnish company Fingersoft . It was first released in 2012 for iOS and Android and in 2013 for the Windows Phone . In the game you have to drive as a single player with different vehicles on different routes (levels) and try to get as far as possible in order to achieve records. With collected coins you can buy new levels and vehicles and upgrade old ones to be able to continue driving.

In the first year after its release, the game was downloaded over 100 million times, and in July 2014 it hit 200 million downloads.

Gameplay

The player plays the character Newton Bill , a man with blue trousers, a red top and a red cap, and can choose one of 34 vehicles (with the workshop there are 35) (the jeep is the only vehicle available from the start). Then he selects one of 32 levels, most of which have to be bought free, and is dropped off with the vehicle in the relevant area. Now he can press the accelerator and brake pedals to accelerate the vehicle forwards or backwards or to turn it to the left or right in the air. He always has two advertising sheets on RPM and boost on his screen. The steps differ in color and background, gravity, friction, interruptions in the floor or ceiling and various obstacles (see below).

The aim of the game is to get as far as possible and collect as many coins as possible (since 2016 also diamonds) before the petrol runs out or the vehicle falls down or lands on Newton Bill ("Driver Down"). Refill gasoline in the form of canisters is located along the route and has to be collected, but as the distance increases, it becomes less and less common, so that it becomes more and more difficult to reach the next gasoline with the one that is still available. Coins can be obtained in four different ways. You are at the bottom of the route at regular intervals, with the amount of coins also increasing as the distance traveled; Times when the vehicle is in the air also bring money (the longer the air time, the greater the profit); so-called flips, which can be performed in the air, bring fixed coin amounts (forwards and backwards 1000, with subsequent death 2500); and reaching new, never-before-traveled step sections (level) also brings fixed amounts of money, which increase with further distance. Most of the money is typically obtained through air times and ground coins. The diamonds are also along the route, but are much rarer. (1.33)

With the obtained coins you can either unlock new levels and vehicles at fixed prices, or you can use them to upgrade vehicles. All companions have four categories in which they can be improved between 4 and 25 times. This takes the most money, fully upgrading a vehicle usually requires a tedious coin collecting. All tiers, vehicles and upgrades combined cost 419,563,500 coins. Records are shown for each level in general and also for each vehicle at each level. 69 different achievements can be achieved, among other things you have to cover 1000 km with each vehicle. Coins and diamonds can be purchased for real money. In the workshop, which was added in 2016, you can upgrade the body, engine and tires of vehicles as you wish and create new vehicles.
