Himiko-Den ( Japanese 火 魅 子 伝 , eng. "Himiko legend") is a Japanese franchise consisting of a manga , an anime and a PlayStation game from 1999. The game was developed by the company Hakuhodo , den Manga created Oh! Great and the anime series was produced by Amuse Video studio. It can be classified into the genres of drama , adventure and fantasy .

content

The ancient Yamatai Empire is threatened by the Kingdom of Kune. To prevent a conquest, the people of Yamatai want to appoint a queen to be chosen by the Bokka. But since the Kune attack unexpectedly early, the Bokka distribute the six candidates across the country. The Bokka themselves are hiding in a newborn baby named Himiko and her pendant, who are being promoted into the future.

At present, 16-year-old Kutani goes to school with Himiko. They fall in love, but the past soon catches up with Himiko and both are brought to Yamatai. There they are initially separated, but soon gather the six princesses and free Yamatai from the rule of Kune.

The game for Playstation developed by Hakuhodo was released in Japan in March 1999.

Manga

From August 1999 a manga for the game was published as a binding by the publishing house Kadokawa Shoten . The work was published by Panini Comics in France and by Norma Editorial in Spain. Planet Manga published the volume in 2003 in German, the translation was done by Christine Roedel.

Anime

The anime series was produced in 1999 by Studio Amuse Video under the direction of Ayumi Tomobuki . The character design was created by Oh! Great and Megumi Kadonosono . The series first aired in Japan from January 7, 1999 to March 31, 1999 by TV Tokyo .

Anime Selects broadcast the series in English, Central Park Media released the English version on DVD.

The music for the series was composed by Kuniaki Haishima. The song Pure Snow by Yuko Sasaki was used for the opening credits , the credits are underlaid with Toki no Iro o Koete by Mika Okudoi.
