Heavenly Pagoda in Hohen Neuendorf

The Sky Pagoda is a Chinese restaurant in Hohen Neuendorf near Berlin , which was built in the style of a round Chinese pagoda. The building was created as a project by the Chinese client Wengui Ye and the architect Christian Rehbock , who lives in Hohen Neuendorf . It is the largest restaurant in Hohen Neuendorf.

history

The first building work began in May 2001, the foundation stone was laid on June 27th, and the topping-out ceremony took place on January 25th, 2002 . The highlight here was a short performance by artists from the Chinese State Circus . The building, based on the Temple of Heaven in Beijing, cost around 6.5 million euros.

A total of 72 containers with parts of stone figures, columns and furniture were imported from China. Many elements of the sky pagoda are in the preferred colors of the Chinese emperors. The roof of the pagoda was covered with gold-colored tiles, a color that only the emperor was allowed to use. The doors and windows are in the Chinese lucky color green. The white railings with lion figures were originally intended to testify to the emperor's clear conscience towards his people and to reflect his openness. According to Chinese tradition, the red columns promise good luck for the "residents". In front of the entrance portal are two lions, which symbolize luck and prosperity in China. A gold Buddha greets visitors in the guest room.
